Bull & Steering Riding School 2005

Past School:  May 27-29 2005

On the last weekend in May, Twin Lakes Ranch Ministries once again hosted a Bull and Steer Riding School.   Chute gates cracking, friendships being made and the delicious smell of home cooking wafting from the 'Dally Inn' were all part of the great time had by all. Twenty-two students rolled in from across Western Canada and the USA.  They came from as far  west as Kelowna, BC, north to Meadow Lake, SK east to Steinbach, MB and south to our American neighbors in Montana.

Rueben Geleynse, of Winchester, Ontario returned for the third year in a row as the instructor of the school.  Rueben, who is a PBR competitor, is a very caring person who takes time to instruct each person individually.  His is very gifted in teaching which shows up in the quality of rides that the students make.  We are very honored to have such a wonderful person, with great expertise in his field, be a  part of the Twin Lakes Bull and Steer Riding School!

Thanks to the great  stock contractors who brought bulls, cows and steers!  Kirby Mealing of Moose Jaw, SK, Neil Farris of Swift Current, SK, Raymond and Miranda Goodman of the Calgary Stampede Ranch at Hanna, AB, Odin and Boyd Jacobson of Lake Alma, SK and Andy Robertson of Carlyle, SK brought excellent stock to give some good opportunities for each of the students.  They rode as many bulls and steers as they wanted.

The staff volunteered their time and energy to make this school the best yet.  We also had several parents pitch in and help which made the school that much better!
The weather is always a factor when running a school in an outdoor arena.  On Saturday morning, we had a little rain shower go through but were able to do some ground work and were not affected by the moisture.  Twin Lakes is planning to build an indoor arena, in which we can run year-round activities including rodeo schools, when it relocates to appropriate land.

On the final day of the school, we have a two-head jackpot.  The students made some thrilling rides much to entertainment of the spectators

We have sold our ranch in 2003 and look for land to re-locate the ministry.  Therefore we have not been able to hold the schools and camps until we are re-located.  These schools of 2003 give you and idea of the type of schools/camps we will offer.  As soon as we find the appropriate land we will be into a building project which will include an indoor arena, etc.  We will keep you updated when that is happening.
